Summer News

Amidst the painting, packaging, parceling and P&G’ing I was delighted to visit the Midwest this summer.

Chicago : In June, I traveled to Chicago and met with several downtown galleries exploring future exhibitions. There seems to be a new interest and attitude emerging in the Midwest with regard to the art market ~ stay tuned.  While in the Windy City , I had the honor of completing a photoshoot of the magnificent gardens of Trudi Temple , the renowned Chicago gardener and the creator of “Market Day”.

Frankfort, Indiana : During this same trip to Chicago ,  I made my way down to Frankfort , Indiana and met with Bill and Flo Caddell.  This was a really significant day since it was the announcement of Bill’s retirement as  Director of the   Frankfort Public Library.  I have included a recent picture from Laura Bush’s award presentation to Bill earlier this year at the White House recognizing this amazing Library.   Flo, who is also the Arts Director, forwarded a personal invitation to me to be a part of the next exhibition at this prestigious library.

Institute of Museum and Library Services Director Dr. Anne-Imelda Radice (left) and First Lady Laura Bush (right) presented Frankfort Community Public Library Director "Bill" Caddell and Community Representative Julie Miller with a National Award for Museum and Library Service in the east room of the White House on Jan. 8, 2007 .

The Frankfort Community Public Library was among six libraries and museums nationwide that were recognized with a National Award for Museum and Library Service for 2006.  This is the nation's highest honor for outstanding public service.

New York City , New York : At the end of August, I delivered the original paintings to the Agora Gallery in New York City for the upcoming exhibition opening on September 28th.  I was able to spend some time with Angela Di Bello, Director of the Agora Gallery and Susan Lora, Exhibition Co-ordinator. It was a wonderful experience being in their presence and feeling their level of energy.

If you would like to receive a personal invitation card for the opening of the New York exhibition, please let me know by email however it will be mandatory that you attend the opening ceremonies.  ..(teehee).

Hillsboro , New Hampshire : The “ For Freedom” Project  becomes reality.  On September 1st, I made my first delivery of 30 packaged “For Freedom” prints and two framed prints to Nancy Steen.  Nancy is an English teacher at the Hillsboro-Deering High School in Hillsboro and is the co-ordinator for the “ For Freedom” Project there.  Nancy is an incredibly warm and dedicated person who is working hard with her yearbook committee to ensure their fundraising efforts for this project will be a success.  Nancy gave me a walking tour of her hometown and I was able to visit the high school that this project is supporting.

Magazine Article

In July, Canadian Brushstroke Magazine published an article from our June interview . The publisher, Susan Blackman, did an extraordinary job in extracting the theme for the article entitled” Documenting your Artwork”.  What a daunting task,  because you know me and how I love to talk.  On a national level, this is a milestone and sure to bring some great exposure. This magazine promises to be a godsend for Artists bringing them into the Canadian public spotlight. And the subscription is free.

On My Board

At the time of this newsletter, I am about halfway through my next painting “ Letters to Heaven”.  This painting is an emotional exploration into the lives of families that have a loved one off fighting in the war.   I will provide more information on the website write-up when the painting is completed.

  “Letters to Heaven”

My next available spot for Commissioned work is April of 2008.  I have nine more paintings in front of me for this year and in November, I begin the preparation for a five week solo exhibition here in Canada in February...This is the most exciting six months of my life….
